9 Jan 11 - Korea Day 5

Day 5, 1st, we went to Beauty Academy. There, the tour guide said we would be taught on basic skin care but I thought the main purpose was to introduce this product called "Odbo". We were taught to use the peeling gel, which acted as scrub, some essence, some sunblock, some eye cream, etc...The product was not bad actually, seems good. The product was actually under Face Shop, however, it was not in Singapore yet.

Ok, where was I in the photo? Haha..I was chosen to be the model. Hmm..I was more lucky than the rest cos everything the beautician would do for me like doing facial while the rest of the people had to apply the product themselves.

Next, Kimchi making session. We had to make the kimchi properly cos these would be donated to the old folks home.

Then, we dressed in traditional korean costume...

Mum looked funny with that something on her head. I saw another tour group with more funny hair wear...which we did not have for us.

I dislike this korean costume cos it was so ugly! The costume were old..and did not fit nicely (I am too fat). Mum said her friend who joined SA tour also wore such costume which was nicer and some pro photographer took very nice photos of them. Hmm..we did not have such service, better? so we did not have to spend additional money to purchase those photos. Mum's friend bought the photos around SGD 100.

Sightseeing Gyeongbok Palace

The palace looked something like those in China.

Bought this mask from Everland. It was good during cold weather. Well, it was too cold!

Our lunch..Hot stone pot bibimbap and shabu shabu.

Insadong

Insa-dong Street is one of the most memorable attractions in Seoul and represents the focal point of Korean traditional culture and crafts. Stores in Insa-dong specialize in a wide variety of goods that can only be purchased or appreciated in Korea: hanbok (traditional clothing), hanji (traditional paper), traditional teas, pottery, and folk crafts.

The Deep Roots of Insa-dong Street
Insa-dong Street stretches over 700 meters between the Anguk-dong Rotary and Tapgol Park (Jongno 2-ga). During the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), the street was dominated by Dohwawon, a place of study for painters. The area is still a center for the arts, and painters, craftsmen, and art lovers continue to set up shop along the narrow alleys, making it a unique place full of folk crafts, pottery, and paintings. The street offers rich opportunities for visitors to experience Korean traditional culture and arts. Various art events and festivals are regularly held along the street.

Must try...Eat it while hot.

Its a pancake with black sugar filling

Dongdaemun Market. There were 7 shopping centres according to the tour guide and they sold around the same things. Hmm..well, its winter..so mostly winter clothing. Also, accessories.
