Dolphin Cruise to the Hole in the Rock

From New Zealand trip.
After so many months.
We joined the Dolphin Cruise.
Luck was not good.
We boat that we going to take spoilt.
They got us to another boat with another company.
Ride was ok but cold if we sat on deck.
Did not see any dolphin.
The company gave us voucher to come back on board again to see the dolphin again.
Hmm..too bad,we were leaving.
Wonder how many people really joined back the tour. We didn't take the voucher anyway.

Cape Reinga & 90 Mile Beach

Our backpacker in Paihia. Not bad actually.

Waited outside our backpacker waiting for bus from Greatsight to fetch us for the tour.
First stop, 5 min walk to view the big Kauri tree

Tea break stop at "taipa" meaning "first touch"

Long bus Journey to Cape Reinga

We were told that Cape Reinga = Place of hidden spirit
Taken from Wikepedia

According to mythology, the spirits of the dead travel to Cape Reinga on their journey to the afterlife to leap off the headland and climb the roots of the 800 year old pohutukawa tree and descend to the underworld to return to their traditional homeland of Hawaiki, using the Te Ara Wairua, the 'Spirits' pathway'. At Cape Reinga they depart the mainland. They turn briefly at the Three Kings Islands for one last look back towards the land, then continue on their journey.

A spring in the hillside, Te Waiora-a-Tāne (the 'Living waters of Tāne'), also played an important role in Māori ceremonial burials, representing a spiritual cleansing of the spirits, with water of the same name used in burial rites all over New Zealand. This significance lasted until the local population mostly converted to Christianity, and the spring was capped with a reservoir, with little protest from the mostly converted population of the area. However, the spring soon disappeared and only reappeared at the bottom of the cliff, making the reservoir useless.

Sandboarding at Te Paki Stream but we did not play...

90 mile beach. Drive on it while low tide.
Bus on 4 wheel drive

The guide told us that the number 1 fish and chips from here!
We all bought it. We did not have time to consume the fish and chips from the restaurant. We packed and ate it on bus. Hmm, fish and chips wrapped in paper.
