Bangkok Trip Day 1 and 2

Day 1 - 4 Mar 10

Bought the air ticket from Jetstar since last year and according to Yuling, we had waited 5 months since then. We bought it at the 1 for 1 promo and each of us paid around $110, with insurance, baggage check in on return. Its a good deal!

Went to the airport after work. Our flight around 8.25pm

Below photos uploaded without processing....

Reached Bangkok airport. We were looking around for the Airport Express bus counter. On the photos above, 1st row on the right shown that we had to walk towards the toilet sign...After that, we saw the Express bus counter. Told the staff that we were going to Florida hotel and we bought the ticket at 150 babt. The staff at the counter told us that we had to wait 20 mins for bus AE4.

Bus arrived and I was wondering where we would be stopping. Need not worry cos the staff would check where we would be going and wrote down it down. The bus driver would inform us when we had reached.

We had booked Florida hotel cos it was very cheap. It cost < $35 per night. It was located near Praya Thai BTS which was central to all location. The airport bus stopped at Praya BTS as well.

The hotel lobby was quite dark as though they had stopped operating. We had to pay deposit of 500 babt. Usually, we could use credit cards for this but not in this hotel. The hotel staff was so kind to bring us to our room. Not sure whether we had to tip him, but we didn't.

The room was so old. It was 80s style?? Look at the photos below. Yuling busy washing away the dirt in the bathtub though we never soaked ourselves in it. There were ants in the bathroom also. No floor mats provided till the last night. I think there were bed bugs too cos both of us got bitten marks. The beds were made of straws? We managed to pull out some...Ok..the only thing we liked about this hotel was the Chinese Movie TV Channel! Though showing all old dump movies, but we enjoyed watching! There's this movie so dump...倩女幽魂, it was even older version than Leslie chung's version. There were no fantastic "lao lao" and 小倩 appearing in the movie but we finished it.

Day 2 - 5 Mar 10

Going to Hua Lamphong Railway Station to book our ticket to kanchanaburi.
How to go Hua Lamphong Railway??
1st, go to Sala Daeng BTS
2nd, follow the signboard to MRT nearby, take MRT to Hua Lamphong MRT.
3rd, follow the signboard again to Railway station.

We asked the staff at the information counter on the booking for the kanchanaburi 1 day trip. She told us to proceed to the Advance booking counter. At the counter, we happily told the staff that we wanted left side seats as left side of the train has the best view of the death railway. That was what we read from a book. We were not sure whether the staff understand us. He told us the meeting time, we had to reach the train station at 6am and the train leaves at 6.30am. I paid 1000 babt, ticket cost 100 babt/ pax, we took the tickets and happily walked off without receiving the change of 800 babt from him. Lucky, when we went back to look for the staff, he automatic gave us the 800 babt without asking.

We saw this outlet sales when we were going back to the MRT. We waited till 10.30 am for the shop to open. Not much things to buy actually and they were expensive after the discount.

Went in to shopping centre nearby. Lunch at Shangarila restaurant. Ate Tom yam noodles, pineapple rice.

Well, she brought the courtesy paper fan which was given during the Yellow Ribbon run.
The chicken photo taken at Chidlom BTS.

We were planning to go Platinum Fashion Mall. How to go? We took BTS to Chidlom, walked along Central World to the end and walked straight. Well, the big head and elephant taken outside Central World.

I bought a lot of bags, big and small from Naraya! Bought over 2000 plus babt. I bought more at Dreamworld too! I liked their bags. Cute and nice!

Well, we bought the hat she was wearing in the photo. Blue elephant print. Kawaii...

Well, think the most heavy loot was the Naraya bags. Well, she bought boots and some winter wear for her China trip. I wanted to buy boots too but thinking I would not have chance to wear it in Singapore till Dec when I might go to Korea. By then, the boots would be spoilt.

There were no restaurant beside our hotel. We walked around, cross the road to some buildings which we thought there might be restaurant in it. Yes. We went to this building opposite our hotel, a "commercial" school, there were some restaurant on level 1, a mini mart on the 3rd floor and foodcourt at the 2nd floor. We tried the Japanese restaurant as shown below. Ordered ramen set and she ordered curry rice.

Back to hotel. I dumped all the purchases items to the big bag I bought. She displayed her items nicely on bed to take a picture of them. Well, I took a picture of the plastic bag she thrown on the floor and side table....Messy...
