11 Nov 2013 - London (Windsor Castle, Oxford Street)

The sky was not happy. It was so gloomy and of my photos turned out gray...

Checked out from Saba hotel and checked in to golden strand hotel. Realised the people mending the hotels looked the same. They were from the same family running the hotel? We wanted to try different hotel to see which was better but...the furnishing looked the same and I felt we were stupid changing?

We left our luggage at the hotel as we could only checked in after 12 noon? Not sure.

We walked to bus stop to take 702 to Windsor Castle. We stopped at Windsor Town Centre, Parish Church stop. This bus operated daily, we had to check which side to take the bus to Windsor as the waiting took long for the next bus. Ticket would be bought in the bus from bus driver. He will give u the change. Ticket cost 19 pounds for 2 pax. Took the bus at 9.25am and reached in an hour time.

Tickets to Windsor Castle cost £17.75. Compared to Hampton castle, Windsor was more glamourous! The interior was nicely done and very grand! However, photos were not allowed. We were told that the queen still hold function there.

Same as Hampton Court, at the entrance, we borrowed their audio device. We used the audio device in the castle and it would tell us the history, settings of the rooms, etc. This time, we were given headphone attached to the audio device. Same thing, pressed the number in every places we passed. There were numbers shown in each room, more organised than Hampton Court. I was so tempted to take photos but didn't.

We watched the change of guard ceremony and it was amusing to hear the guard inspected the fall in row by row and shouted "stand still"! He seems like scolding them.

After Windsor Castle, we walked to the wrong station. Suppose to go to Windsor & Eton Central train station, but we went to the Riverside station. Saw that there was train going Lodnon waterloo, I decided to take the train to Waterloo and changed to Paddington instead. Tickets cost £9.50 each to London Waterloo station.

From London Waterloo, took the underground train to London Paddington. Did not go to Oxford which we had planned. By the time we reach Paddington was around 2 plus and the next train to Oxford was 3.25pm. By the time we reached Oxford would be around 4.25pm and the sky would be dark and we could not take any more photos.  We decided not to go n wasted our tickets - Oxford to london ticket, which we had booked online beforehand.

We were wondering if we could shop at Paddington. However, there was no shopping centre around. While we were wondering and looking at the map, a nice guy asked if we need help and he told us that we could go to Oxford Circus station. We could shop at Oxford Street

Did not buy anything. There was shops like H&M, Mango, Gap, Long Champ etc there.

Photo were not allowed anywhere in the castle buildings.

Ate Mac Donald "BCO", bacon chicken, O stand for?? Not sure. Cost 10 plus pounds for 2 set.

Went back hotel after that. Golden Strand hotel was not better than Saba. It was worse. There was little space, hangers, no place to hang the clothes. Toilet was small....
We were given room at the highest floor, ie we had to carry our luggage up narrow staircase!

Went to Primark.  Bought a velvety tights for 6 pound, niece t shirt for 2 pounds, 2 set of fleece sleep wear for niece n nephew for 3.90 pounds each, and baby wear for friend's baby cost 7.50 pounds for a pack of 5 inside.
