10 Nov 2013 - London (Hampton Court Palace, Camden Market)

Woke up early. It was a sunny day with blue blue sky!

Went for breakfast around 7.40am and we realised that they served breakfast only at 8.30am on weekend. Weekday would be earlier, 7.30am. Went out for a walk to see the surroundings.

↓ Locate our next hotel which we would be staying on 11 Nov onwards.

↓ Can the driver see the small signage?

↓ This was the little corner to Tesco. Located opposite hotel.

Breakfast! It was partial buffet style? Buffet for cereal? They served hot breakfast cooked on spot. The staff would ask us what we would like to have. Anyway, standard, eggs, beans and toast. Maybe some customer does not want any of that?

Our hot breakfast, scramble eggs, baked bean, and toast. We waited for like 15mins?

Then we went to Hampton Court.
Walked from hotel to Kensington Olympia station. Asked around if unsure and the people was nice to direct. Reached Kensington Olympia around 10am and took the Overground train to Clapham Junction.  Only a few stops to Clapham so it was quite fast. However, there were no trains from Clapham Junction which we suppose to take to Hampton Court due to weekend.

Again, we followed the instructions shown and found the replacement bus to Hampton court. This bus stopped at every station that the train travelled. It took us longer to reached Hampton Court. We reached around 1152hrs. The only thing we benefit from it was we saved £4.40 for our trip? We did not have to pay for the replacement bus journey.

Reached the Hampton Court, paid for ticket, £17.60, and went for the tour. It would be best to borrow their listening device that gave intro to the Hampton palace before going for tour around the place. The device was like a handphone but tiring after carrying it awhile n confusing. We had to press play, key in the code for the location we were in everytime. There was map given though.

We borrowed the device late and the only story I knew was Henry VIII. He and his capable wife Katherine. Henry VIII had 6 wife in total. He was fat? Hmm...

↓ The queen's staircase

There was this cookery exhibit which was quite bored.
There was a small maze near the palace included in the ticket price.
Hmm..I would not pay for it if it was a single ticket just to enter that.
The kids were really like mice running around finding their way out.
Crazily running..
I had been to the New Zealand maze which required used of brain to think and figure how to get out which was more interesting than this garden maze.

We left the place around 2pm and took the replacement bus to Clapham Junction train station. This time the replacement bus was faster. It only stop twice or three times. The staff at Hampton Court station told us that the replacement bus took 1 hr 40 mins to reach Clapham Junction train station.

From Clapham Junction station, we took the South West train to London Waterloo station. From London Waterloo, take Northern line to Camden Town. Once out of the station, we could see shops and walked down the road we would see Camden market.

We collected our train ticket for journey, Oxford to London, at London Waterloo station. Collect it from the machine which could be easily located.  Insert the credit card used to buy the ticket online into the machine, key in our reference number, then collected the printed tickets.

Camden Market was like Chatuchak in Bangkok but it was of smaller scale.
The things sold at the market was also similar to Bangkok but it was more expensive here. I saw some t-shirt in Bangkok selling maybe 199 babt? Here, it was selling at 10 pounds.

Ate at some buffet restaurant around 5pm. The buffet cost 21 pounds for both pax. The sign board actually put 7.80 pounds but it turned out 10.50 pounds each? Not sure, maybe it included the canned coke that we ordered? The food was so so... There were Sweet n sour pork, mixed veg in Chinese style, Fried fries, onion rings,  banana fritters, chicken wings....

The restaurant was run by Chinese.  Called Mas Oriented?  Forgot the name. The Chinese male waiter asked if we were Philipino. Do we look like one? Hmm...

Dessert not nice.

After dinner, we walked a bit...However it was very cold..maybe as it was near river?

There were a street of food stalls with old scooter seat for the customer.

Bought nothing.  Went back hotel after that. We were cold...
