24 Aug 2011 - Wanaka - Queenstown

Bought Cereal and milk the day before and this going to be my breakfast till last day

Our plan for the day was to go to Puzzling world. Suppose to walk the Mount Iron track which was beside Puzzling World but we were lazy.

It was easy to get to Puzzling world. We walked straight along the path to Puzzling world. The I site told us it was a 10 mins walk? It was actually quite far! Maybe NZ people really walks very fast?

Leaning & Tumbling tower
When you arrive at Puzzling World you will immediately notice the crazy architecture. One building has four eccentric Tumbling Towers. Another one is called the Leaning Tower of Wanaka. This tower has been pulled out of the ground and is balanced on one corner at an unbelievable 53 degrees! The Leaning Tower of Pisa only leans six degrees.

We tried so hard to pose in such a way that we were carrying the tower, etc..but sigh...

 Armes Room
Carry on into the Ames Forced Perspective Room. The technique of this illusion was used in The Lord of the Rings film to create tall people and little people. The shape of this room is totally distorted although when viewed from outside through a window, the room looks perfectly normal. Prepare to be amazed!

Hologram Room
The Illusion Rooms of Stuart Landsborough's Puzzling World have to be seen to be believed. Each room is an illusion in its own right. On entering you pass through the Hologram Hall. As there is nothing quite like this in the world, you will find the collection of amazing 3-D holograms fascinating!

Tilted House
Enter the Tilted House. The room is tilted at an angle of fifteen degrees. All the displays inside are normal yet when you enter the room the illusion is so strong that your brain is convinced the room cannot be sloping. The brain straightens up the room at the expense of the displays that seem to hang at impossible angles.

↓ This room was funny, we had hard time walking in the room

↓ Video of us in the Armes Room. I took a photo of that.

↓ Hall of Following Faces
Move on into the Hall of Following Faces illusion room where 168 giant models of famous faces seem to turn and follow you around the room. Puzzling world invented this illusion room to offer visitors a world unique encounter of being followed left and right, up and down by some very illustrious company.

↓ The Great Maze
Puzzling world developed the first of the world's modern-style mazes. Designed to be a fascinating and enjoyable puzzle. 1.5km of passages - allow 30 minutes to one hour to achieve. Emergency doors for those with limited time, patience or energy! Adults, this maze is a lot of fun. It is designed to intrigue people of ALL ages.

The great maze was quite fustrating when we finding the way out! First, we did not enter from the main door, we saw some side and we went in, and we used the escape route when we did not find the exit. Then, we tried again, though some of the route we already knew, we still trying hard to get out.

There were some Japanese, they paired up and compete with each other. Saw them got out of the maze faster than us as we took our time. Hmm....We also cheated cos sometimes, we would see someone kept coming back to the same place trying to figure out how to get out and we would just wait then we followed his route when he successfully found the way out.

Went to Queenstown......the Intercity bus stop outside of our hostel.
Checked in Hostel and we went out to explore the place. Dinner at some "food court". The food court with Japanese/Korean food, Thai food, Spanish, India, Mac donald. At least better than nothing.

I love the kiwi breakfast but the Kiwi meal tasted not as good, cost us around 9 plus NZ.

↓ See my snack going to bring home? Potato chips, chocolate?
